When ordering prescriptions, it would be nice if the nurse didn't have the option to add a custom pharmacy. When nursing staff add a custom pharmacy, they view it as it's added and good to go, when really it's not doing anything for the patient. This is very frustrating because staff think they have successfully sent a script, and when the patient presents to the pharmacy they're informed they don't have a script available for pickup. It's not an option to remove this at this time, so adding it to the "Dream" Factory as mentioned by support.
I agree with this and @Kelsey's comment. Custom pharmacies lead to issues in discharge compliance and have no real function besides being a placeholder if the user cannot locate the pharmacy in the search. When training our staff, we try to emphasize that searching by zip code or city and unchecking "local" will yield better results because the name is not always accurate. For example, a pharmacy in a grocery store will have a completely different name but users will search the grocery store name and tell us that they can't find it.
Adding onto this..I also think that having a pop-up that instructs users on the pharmacy search tool would be helpful. Sometimes less is more when trying to find the pharmacy you want. You can't always find them under the name you think. Maybe suggesting that they search by zip code or city/state first?
