Can there be a flag put in to alert the nursing staff that a drug is on the list of Hazardous Drugs in compliance with USP <800> guidelines? A simple checkbox for Hazardous Drugs or symbol would be great. Right now, we have the NIOSH list available to nurses, but it would be great if it were pulled over when the medication was added to the formulary. There is not enough character space to add it on the item itself and the wholesalers identify hazardous drugs when we order, so it should be easy to pull over from Micromedex.
The eMAR would definitely be the best place to display this information.
We will be adding a Hazardous Drug indicator to the Item Master as part of version 22.01.00 so this can be captured.
As part of a larger project to pull more data from Micromedex/Merative when creating a new formulary item, we will look to include this indicator. Stay tuned for more on this.
Where in the system would it be helpful to display that a drug has been marked as hazardous? (eMAR, Order Entry, ???)
