Co-signing of Notes

Add the ability to select which note types need to be co-signed vs which ones don’t. Ex: discharge instructions or patient work/school notes that don’t need to be co-signed by physician, but the mid levels H&P or progress note does. The midlevel often forgets to change the drop down to “no co-signer”, causing more work for the physicians.

This was completed last year as part of the Dream Factory Month 2022 challenge.

Software Change: The Create Note panel may now be customized based on the Note Type so that the Cosign dropdown does not display for users who require a cosignature. From Notes Admin within Tables, a Note Type may be edited or a new type created. The check box Cosign Exempt is now available. When selected this designates the Note Type as cosign exempt. When this Note Type is selected within a Create Note panel, the cosign drop-down will not display.

NOTE: The Cosign Exempt will default to unchecked and Notes will function the same until this change is made.

Co-signing is only available to physicians, but PTs need to co-sign notes for PTAs and students.

There is a "cosign exempt" check box, when creating a note type to determine if it needs to be co-signed.

YES!...This would help to keep the staff physician's e-sing queue clean.

This is essential! You could do it in Phys Doc, you should have the same functionality in Notes.
