Associated Order/Alert notification function for ancillary departments

Our respiratory department would like to be notified via an automated order print out for certain lab items like sputum culture. However, the system does not currently allow for you to associate a collection order with any lab items. You can currently only do this for pharmacy items like a nebulizer order to go with the meds. We recently had a patient not get a sputum culture collected for over two days because the nursing order for collection was missed and respiratory was not notified.
