We have recently had a patient that has transitioned from female to male. We had patient registered appropriately as birth sex female and admin gender male. patient raised some concerns and voiced trauma from opening reports on the patient portal that stated female. Can we have admin gender populate to the reports instead of birth sex especially when they go to the patients portal.
Just a thought but I would think birth sex would need to be considered when evaluating certain lab results and definitely radiology reports. For example, an individual that has transitioned from female to male but still has an ovary or even a uterus would be vital information when reading an abdominal film. However, for the above-mentioned reason maybe have both on the report.
