The item master is a complete cluster. This needs to be completely rewritten and/or grouped with additional security. It currently includes: Material Management - physical items for both patients and departments - splints, iv needs, pens, paper, staplers are all there which is fine because they need to order all but they could have an additional sorting option instead of reading the Insurance summary code which would be helpful as a lookup, lab/radiology/cardiopulmonary items - not physical items, but need order entry prompting questions, pharmacy items - physical items, need different order entry prompting also need default administration doses/routes (not every item existing needs pharmacy screens), charges - HIM procedures which we have duplicates of - dislocation of elbow, then an item with the matching GL so that it gets tossed in the ER revenue bucket, another identical item for Operating Room, an identical for Outpatient, and identical for clinic A, and an identical for clinic B. These need to either be created in completely different tables, or have a checkbox or dropdown for the type of items you are accessing. Pharmacy, Material Management, 3 lab staff and 2 radiology staff, plus the item master creator (only for HIM charges and Ancillary items as Material Management and Pharmacy create their own). They all have access, but don't need access to everyone else's. Order and Charge templates need to be able to allow a mix of all different items. Orders currently want to know if you are adding from Pharmacy, Ancillary, Nursing. This can be adjusted to how they are created in the new tables.
