With the recent update to the MAR functionality, IV fluids now auto-populate the Volume field upon completion of an infusion—this is working as expected for most items. However, there is a limitation when dealing with premixed IV solutions.
Issue:
In the Item Master > Pharmacy Information > Predefined Info, many premix IVs are set up with:
Dose Quantity = 1
Dose Unit = GM (grams)
Because the system is configured to pull volume only when the dose unit is in mL, no volume is being auto-populated for these items when the nurse documents "Infusion Complete." As a result, intake volumes are being missed, since staff are now accustomed to the field auto-filling.
Requested Enhancement:
Please consider adding a new "Total Volume" field under Predefined Info (possibly located under "Flow Rate"). The logic would be:
If Dose Unit ≠ mL (e.g., GM),
Then pull from the new "Total Volume" field instead,
To auto-populate the Volume field in MAR upon infusion completion.
This will help ensure accurate intake documentation and restore consistent behavior across IV products.
Let me know if additional clarification or examples are needed. Thank you for considering this enhancement.
