There needs to be some type of connection with setup of Tables > Business Office > Images > Titles (aka Image Titles) and Communication Center > Document Name or Document Type or Document Category because there is a lot tied to Image Titles as far as what a document does, where exactly it goes, what security is needed to access that document and I'm sure much more and there is no way in Communication Center to utilize Image Titles so that functionality is just non existent. For example we have an Image Title called ORDER RESULTS RAD and one option that we utilize is the Chartlink Tab: Radiology and what this does is any scanned image under that Image Title then that scanned image will show in our ImageLink PACS system but I was attempting to transition Radiology from an actual fax machine to Communication Center but if they try to attach the file directly to the patient they have no way to use that Image Title so the file never goes to ImageLink PACS so now they have to download or print that document then go to old Thrive and Electronic File Management and now upload that document, this defeats the purpose of having Communication Center!!!! Instead of moving forward with technology now we're going backwards in time again.
I agree. I hate rebuilding the wheel, and now we get into Comm Center and you're rebuilding a wheel. Document categories, permissions and groups with faxing, it's frustrating. If the documents types don't tie to anything, why even use them? And now that we can send these faxes for electronic signature to the providers, we're actually going to have to face this mess.
I couldn't agree more with this idea. This is the big reason why we haven't really adopted Communication Center.
We are struggling with this part of Communication Center also. We limit what goes through Communication Center because of this exact issue. Also there is no way to tie the fax back to the account to say the fax was successful
